About Northern Cyprus
In the clear blue waters of the Mediterranean, Cyprus is an island of natural beauty and historical treasures. Visitors to the island are always impressed with the hospitality of the Turkish Cypriot people and its beautiful unspoilt scenery. Bathed in sunshine almost every day of the year, Cyprus is a Mediterranean paradise.
Situated in a strategic crossroads between East and West, Cyprus has a rich and varied history. Over the centuries the island has been settled by Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Lusignans, Venetians, Ottomans, British and Turks.
North Cyprus has many beaches, rocky coves and bays, snorkelling and scuba diving are very popular here. There are several privately owned beaches with sun beds, restaurants and water sports facilities. Or find your very own secret bay nearby; there are plenty of hidden gems.
The most conspicuous feature of North Cyprus is its magnificent mountain range, parallel with the coast, East to West. Rising to nearly 3000 ft, it is home to the Kyrenia Mountain Trail plus miles and miles of other tracks and trails. The Northern escarpment is forested with pine woods and is famous for its wild flowers and orchids in the spring, and the profusion of birdlife.
The activity sector here is still relatively undiscovered. Most days visitors walk, cycle or horse ride all day without seeing another soul, except for perhaps a few mountain goats or a wild donkey.
